Asylum Seekers - Health and Wellbeing
As an asylum seeker, with an active application or appeal, you are fully entitled to free NHS care, including GP (Doctor) consultations, hospital treatment, and mental health services.
Emergency Care: Accident and Emergency (A&E) services are free for everyone, including undocumented migrants and refused asylum seekers.
Refused Asylum Seekers: Those whose application is denied can still receive free treatment for A&E, infectious diseases, and conditions that cannot be delayed.
Prescriptions and Additional Health Costs
- HC2 Certificate: Individuals receiving financial support from the Home Office will automatically be sent an HC2 certificate. This covers the cost of prescriptions, dental treatment, sight tests, and necessary hospital travel. Contact NHS Low Income Scheme Helpline on 0300 330 1343 to request your HC2 Certificate reference number.
- Applying for Help: If you do not receive an HC2 certificate automatically but are on a low income, you can apply using an HC1 form.
