Community Governance Review for Kidderminster

Wyre Forest District Council has undertaken a Community Governance Review.

It asked the public whether they supported creating a Town Council for Kidderminster. In order to create a Town Council for Kidderminster, the review considered creating Kidderminster as a parish for the purposes of local government legislation (this is known as “parishing”) and the establishment of a council for Kidderminster that would be known as Kidderminster Town Council.

The rules which were used for the Local Advisory Poll were set by the Council. It took place on Thursday 7 May 2015.

People living in Kidderminster and are registered to vote were able to take part in the Local Advisory Poll. They were asked 'Should Kidderminster have a Town Council?'

  • 79.1% (18,264) voted YES
  • 20.2% (4,668) voted NO

Declaration of result of Local Advisory Poll

Wyre Forest District Council considered the results of the poll together with any other comments from the consultation at its meeting on 29 July 2015. It decided to go ahead with the creation of a Town Council. The Council’s decision was widely publicised.
