Elections and voting
You can't vote unless you are registered to vote. It is quick and easy to register online on GOV.UK.
- You will need your National Insurance (NI) number and date of birth to register.
- Don't forget you need photo ID if you want to vote at a polling station. See acceptable forms of ID and how to get a voter authority certificate if you don't have the right ID.
- If you can't get to your polling station on election day, you can apply to vote by post or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf.
