Conservation areas in Wyre Forest

The draft Gilgal conservation area character appraisal is now available to view and comment on. Please email any comments to conservation@wyreforestdc.gov.uk.

Consultation runs from Monday 18 November to Monday 16 December 2024.

There are 17 Conservation Areas in the Wyre Forest district. One is predominantly within Bewdley town centre, four are within Stourport-on-Severn, four are located in Kidderminster, seven are based on settlements within the rural areas and the other is the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal which runs through urban and rural areas, including parts of Kidderminster and Stourport-on-Severn town centres.

Conservation Area Character Appraisals help residents and businesses to understand the history of an area and why it is special. They help to shape future development and planning policy as well as giving residents an idea of what enhancements could be made.

Brief descriptions of the Conservation Areas can be found below. Select the area name to view more information.

We are dedicated to reviewing the Conservation Areas and producing Character Appraisals for them in line with Government guidance. Character Appraisals are a statement, assessing and defining the special nature of the area. Where a Conservation Area Appraisal has been produced it can be viewed at the end of each of the relevant Conservation Area descriptions.
