Fairtrade in Kidderminster
Kidderminster first became an official Fairtrade Town in November 2007 and has retained this status ever since, with the latest renewal in 2017. The Kidderminster Fairtrade Steering Group meets regularly to plan local activity to promote Fairtrade. Activity includes:
- Organising events such as the Fairtrade Fashion Shows and an annual Grand Fairtrade Sale, which are always well supported
- Carrying out local promotions for the annual Fairtrade Fortnight, such as taster sessions/ awareness/ Traidcraft stalls at Kidderminster Library, the College and in local shopping centres.
- Encouraging local businesses to stock Fairtrade goods and encouraging community groups and organisations to become supporters by using Fairtrade products.
The group is always on the look out for new volunteers, either to join the steering group or to spend an hour or two helping out at an event. To find out more, please contact Sue Cowen on 01562 755552. You can also keep up to date by liking the Kidderminster Fairtrade Group Facebook page
Fairtrade Supporters and Stockists in Kidderminster
You can now buy a range of Fairtrade products from retailers and catering outlets throughout Kidderminster. In the UK, thousands of products now carry the Fairtrade mark, from tea and coffee to flowers and jewellery.
Many of our workplaces and community organisations also support Fairtrade, for example by using a number of Fairtrade products (such as refreshments for meetings) or by running promotional activities. These include Community Housing, Kemp Hospice, Kidderminster Library, Kidderminster Shuttle and many of our schools and churches.
Please contact the steering group or visit the Fairtrade Foundation website to find out more about becoming a Fairtrade stockist or supporter.
