What is Solar Together?

The Solar Together scheme provides homeowners with affordable installation of solar panels and battery storage systems through a group buying scheme to save money on your energy bills.

Participants can install the following systems through the scheme:

Residents who already have solar PV installed can retrofit their systems with battery storage through this scheme.

We understand that choosing an installer can be quite daunting, but by vetting and qualifying trusted installers and using a competitive bidding process (auction), the scheme ensures consumer protection and saves the average consumer 15-20% on a standard-sized solar installation (against the typical market price, with the exact savings varying per scheme).

We have a rigorous qualification process for installers to take part in our auctions. Giving residents peace of mind that they are getting high-quality products and installation. All installers must be Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited and either Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) or Home Insulation and Energy Systems (HIES) members to enter the qualification process.

Residents interested in making the switch to solar energy can register online. You will need to complete a quick questionnaire with your personal details to determine whether you're eligible for rooftop solar panels, battery installation, or both.

The questionnaire will ask you for information like address, roof type, and energy usage. The solar provider can use this information to assess whether the your rooftop is appropriate for solar panels and batteries and whether you are a suitable candidate for solar energy.

An auction will be held for installers to bid on the installations. Once the winner is selected, individuals who have registered will receive a personalised recommendation based on the information provided during registration. You can then accept the offer online and pay a deposit.

The chosen installer will contact you to survey your roof and schedule the installation.

Solar Together consider the your estimated yearly electricity consumption, roof size, and battery capacity preference. Their comprehensive recommendation includes:

  • Recommended number of panels or battery capacity
  • Benefits of the panels or battery
  • Total package price
  • Documents: installer information, product specifications, terms and conditions, and next steps explained

If you are interested in getting an electric vehicle charging point, it won't be included in your initial Solar Together personal recommendation.
