What did you do before your role with us?
I was a health and safety officer at a cake factory, after spending 23 years in the armed forces
What attracted you to your role?
The location, I felt I could be part of the local community, the hours were flexible and the role appealed to me, it would fit in with my family life.
Would you recommend WFDC to a friend and why?
Yes I would, the staff are great, there is a lot of change in the pipeline and I am looking forward to being part of exciting developments
What is the best part of your job?
The people, engaging with them and resolving their problems.
What is your working pattern?
Full time Monday to Friday
Have you been supported in progression?
Yes encouraged to seek out additional training. I am currently looking into becoming a first aid trainer which will enable me to train staff in house.
Tell us about your average day?
I split my time 50/50 between the office and being on site. I undertake risk assessments, training, visit accident sites, review incidents and support and advise managers.
