Vice-chairman steps down

The Vice-chairman of Wyre Forest District Council has announced he will be stepping down from the role the day before the meeting of full council on Wednesday 23 September.

Councillor Peter Young, the ward member for Broadwaters has served as Vice-chairman of the Council for the past 17 months.

Chairman of the Council, Councillor Shazu Miah said:

“Peter has been my deputy during one of the most challenging periods in the history of local government. I would like to thank him for his service and the tremendous support he has offered me and the council during this time. “

Retiring vice-chairman, Councillor Peter Young said:

“It has been a great privilege to serve as vice-chairman of the council. So much has changed during my time in office and I am proud of the way the council has conducted its business during the pandemic. The council continues to adapt to new ways of working, while still providing excellent value for money services for Wyre Forest residents.”

He added,

“I have served for much longer than the municipal year for which I was elected and feel that it is now time for another member to have the chance to take over the role.”

A successor for the role will be elected at the council meeting on Wednesday 23 September. The meeting will start at 6pm and will be live streamed. It can be viewed on our council meeting live stream web page.
