Dates for hearings into the Wyre Forest Local Plan announced

News release issued:

Public hearings into Wyre Forest District Council’s Submitted Local Plan will be held early next year.

Ms Mary Travers, the Planning Inspector appointed to undertake the examination of Wyre Forest District Council’s Submitted Local Plan has announced the dates. She intends to hold the public hearings from Monday 11 January on selected days and they are expected to continue into early February.

The Local Plan identifies where development sites for homes and business will be and the services and infrastructure needed to support them. The Council carried out public consultation throughout the process of developing the Local Plan and received more than 1,000 responses from more than 500 respondents across the district. It was submitted to the Secretary of State for examination at the end of April 2020. The public examination is the next step in its adoption.

Information about the public examination can be found on our Local Plan examination page.

Ms Travers has also announced what ‘Matters and Questions’ she intends to explore during the hearings and a timetable of which matters will be heard on particular days. Anyone who has registered to appear at the hearings will be contacted directly by the Local Plan Programme Officer. It is expected that the hearings will be conducted online to ensure the safety of those taking part during the continued Coronavirus pandemic.

Councillor Fran Oborski, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning & Capital Investments said:

“I’m pleased that the Inspector has been able to announce the dates of the hearings and confirm the matters to be addressed as this is another milestone in the Council progressing towards the adoption of the Local Plan.”
