Bridge Street car park
Assets of Community Value
Notification of intent of disposal: Bridge Street Car Park, Stourport on Severn
Wyre Forest District Council notified their intention to dispose of the listed community asset listed above on 12 February 2025.
Moratorium Periods (delay of disposal)
This notification has triggered the initial six weeks moratorium period which commenced on 12 February 2025 Community groups may now notify the local authority of their intention to be treated as a potential bidder for the asset. Requests should be made in writing to ourselves before the end of the initial moratorium period, i.e. 26 March 2025. If no bids are received then the owner may continue with the disposal of the asset.
If within the six weeks a local community group states they wish to be considered as a potential bidder, they will be given six months to put together a viable bid. This is known as the full-moratorium period. The full moratorium period ends on 12 August 2025.
The owner can, at the end of the moratorium, dispose to whomever they choose and at whatever price. The owner is also at liberty to negotiate with a preferred buyer during the moratorium period: but the disposal cannot be concluded during that period.
Protected Period
If after the six month moratorium period a community group has not successfully bought the property, a further 12 month protection period is triggered (in total an eighteen month period commencing on the day the Council received written notification of the owner's intention to dispose of the asset). During this protection period the asset may be disposed of by the owner on the open market without the risk of any further moratorium period being triggered. The protection period will end on 12 August 2026.
