About

Tucked away just behind Riverside Meadows on Moorhall Lane in Stourport, this hidden gem is only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. The reserve can be found at grid reference

Covering around 1.5 hectares (4 acres), Moorhall Meadow is a thriving mix of wetland fen and patches of wet woodland around the edges. Despite its modest size, the site is alive with wildlife. It is home to a wide variety of plants and provides shelter and feeding grounds for many species of birds, butterflies, and insects throughout the year.

The landscape here is thought to be a surviving remnant of the River Severn floodplain marshland—once common across the area, but now considered a rare and valuable habitat. This makes the reserve an important place for both conservation and education, helping to preserve a disappearing landscape type.

Visitors can now enjoy improved access thanks to a viewing platform installed in 2023, which looks directly into the heart of the reserve. The platform, reached through the wooden archway on Moorhall Lane, offers a peaceful spot to pause and take in the wetland’s sights and sounds.
