Change to Cabinet membership announced
News release issued:
Wyre Forest District Council has announced a change to membership of its Cabinet following decisions by Councillor Marcus Hart, the Leader of the Council.
Councillor Nathan Desmond has been appointed as Cabinet Member for Operational Services today (Monday 27 October). Councillor Desmond has been a district councillor for more than twenty years and represents the Foley Park and Hoobrook ward. Since 2023 he has been the chairman of the Audit Committee. There are no changes to other Cabinet portfolios.
Councillor Hart said: “I am delighted to appoint Councillor Nathan Desmond to the Cabinet. He comes with a wealth of experience having held Cabinet positions between 2004 and 2019 continuously, including Cabinet roles in respect of front-line operational services at our Green Street depot. I am looking forward to working with Nathan as part of my Cabinet on continuing to deliver the priorities set out in the corporate plan and the challenging issues facing the district over the coming period, including significant changes to funding for district councils, the introduction of food waste collections and local government reorganisation.
“I terminated the appointment of Councillor Ben Brookes to the Cabinet earlier today but would like to acknowledge his contribution to the work of the Cabinet in the period since May 2023.”
