Volunteer Fair in Kidderminster
News release issued:
More than 20 local organisations that are looking for volunteers are taking part in a Volunteer Fair at Kidderminster Library on Thursday 9 May.
The event, which runs from 1pm – 4pm, is free to attend. It has been organised by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with UNITY (the employment services team at Community Housing). Local charities, groups and other organisations who rely on the goodwill of volunteers will be promoting a number of exciting roles they have available.
Being a volunteer can be a great opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people and can help people into employment. Attendees can also find out how they can gain a digital skills qualification.
Opportunities range from befriending, to supporting the Burlish Bike Park coffee shop, conservation work and driving.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Community Safety said,
“Volunteering is a great way to meet new people whilst giving back to the local community. Whether volunteers are helping out a few hours a week or once a month, we are grateful for their time and hard work.
We hope residents will find the Volunteer Fair informative and inspiring. There are a wide range of opportunities that anyone can get involved with to start making a difference.”
