Have your say on key planning documents

News release issued:

Residents, businesses and local developers in the district can have their say on key planning documents. Wyre Forest District Council is consulting on its draft Design Amenity and Shopfronts Supplementary Planning Document and its Conservation Area Character Appraisals for Stourport.

The draft Design Amenity and Shopfronts Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) aims to provide detailed advice on the council’s expectations around high quality development. It also adds detail to the design policies in the adopted Local Plan.

Design is important everywhere, not only in maintaining places which are attractive, but also in revitalising and regenerating places.

The Conservation Area Character Appraisals for Stourport No.1 and No.2 cover the Georgian part of the centre of Stourport. The appraisals have recently been reviewed by specialist consultants Donald Insall Associates. The council is now consulting the public on these too.

The Appraisals offer guidance on the unique character and historic interest of these areas in Stourport. They aim to protect them from inappropriate development and safeguard and enhance the historic fabric.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said,

“These key planning documents are vital resources when making decisions on potential and future developments. We want the local community to share their comments on them in these new consultations.”

The documents and details of how to comment are available to view on the council’s consultation webpage. A paper version of the Conservation Area Character Appraisals can be viewed at Stourport Library or at Wyre Forest House. The Design Amenity and Shopfronts SPD can be viewed at Wyre Forest House, Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley Libraries. Both consultations close at 5pm on Wednesday 8 May.
