Council proud to support historic local carnival

Wyre Forest District Council are pleased to be supporting Stourport Carnival again this year, made possible by an events grant provided to Stourport Town Council, to support community events.
Stourport Town Council said: “We were delighted to receive the events grant from Wyre Forest District Council which made it possible for us in turn, to provide a grant to Stourport Carnival Committee to help with this historic community event.”
We recognise the commitment and hard work, that volunteers and members of Stourport Carnival Committee dedicate throughout the year. This is especially vital during the run up to the actual day, to make sure the carnival continues to be successful and reaches its 100th birthday in 2025!
Stourport Carnival Committee said “We were very grateful to receive the event grant from Stourport Town Council that was awarded by Wyre Forest District Council. The carnival is a real community event that relies on the support of local businesses, groups, and individuals, who without the carnival wouldn’t be possible! We are always on the lookout for volunteers during the run up to the day and on the day, we welcome anyone to get in touch if they feel they could help, no matter how much time they can give.”
Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Councillor Ben Brookes said: “The council is really pleased to be able to contribute and support the town’s carnival this year. Having a rich programme of arts, culture, and leisure activities across the district for our communities is a big part of our commitment to the people of Wyre Forest, and over the coming period we will be adding to this so watch this space!”
