Council launches new Corporate Plan

News release issued:

A safe, vibrant and clean place to live, work and visit is the new vision for Wyre Forest District Council.

At its meeting last night (Wednesday 20 September) Council agreed a new corporate plan which sets out what the authority will be focusing on over the next four years.

The Corporate Plan has three priorities. These are ‘economic growth and regeneration’, ‘a clean, safe and green district’ and ‘securing financial sustainability for services that local communities value.’

The plan also sets out its top actions to deliver on these priorities. These include progressing the redevelopment of Bridge Street in Stourport, completing the Brinton Park project and investing in tackling environmental crime.

The Corporate Plan was produced following a public consultation. There were almost 1,100 responses to the questionnaire asking for views on what the council should focus its energies on over the next four years.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said:

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey and to stakeholders and partners who joined our focus groups. We also set up a cross-party panel. The feedback from all of the consultation was used in the compilation of the plan.

“This is an important high-level document which sets out to our communities what our priorities are for the next four years. It can’t say everything we want to do but includes the core things. We have some exciting economic development projects going on and we want to do more on parcels of land we own, for example the Crown House and Lionfields sites. The importance of a clean and safe environment was top of the list for most people. Among the action we are planning is to invest in clearing litter and tackling environmental crimes. Across all of this we need to make sure that we have a balanced budget. We will be focusing on growing our income and commercialisation as well being as efficient as we can be as we work to secure services that our communities value.”
