Consultation launched for new housing supplementary planning document

News release issued:

Housing is at the heart of a new Wyre Forest District Council planning document. The council is asking the public to have their say in a new consultation on their Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).

The housing SPD will be used by the Council to give further guidance on the policies in the Wyre Forest Local Plan Local Plan about development in the district until 2036.

The housing SPD provides details on affordable housing, local housing needs, housing in specific areas such as Bewdley and rural areas, self and custom build and housing for older people and others with special housing requirements.

The consultation invites people to comment on areas of the SPD that interest them, or the whole document. Whilst comments will not change the policies of the Local Plan, they can potentially alter the guidance the SPD gives, for example providing clarification on specific points.

Councillor Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda said:

“This new document aims to give guidance to the council and applicants when considering housing development in the district. The consultation is a vital step in making sure the SPD is clear and effective in its guidance. We are asking residents, businesses and developers for their comments.”

The consultation is open from Monday 6 November until Monday 18 December.

Details and how to comment can be found on the Council's consultations webpage.
