Flag flying ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day

A special flag flying ceremony to support Armed Forces Day has been arranged by Wyre Forest District Council.
The event is taking place outside Bewdley Museum on Monday 19 June. It will start at 10am and members of the public are invited along to show their support to those who are serving, have served and those who have given their lives for their country.
A Parade Marshal will lead standard bearers from armed forces associations through the museum to the front of the building, where they will gather for the ceremony.
At 10.15am guests will be formally welcomed by Councillor Chris Rogers, the Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council. This will be followed by prayers.
The flag will be raised by the Chairman at 10.30am.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said:
"The Flag Flying Ceremony is a great opportunity for everyone to show their support for our Armed Forces. Raising the flag honours the bravery and commitment of our services personnel from veterans to cadets and pays tribute to their families. I would encourage residents to come along. If appropriate it would be great to see them wearing their full military regalia, berets, blazers or uniform to mark the occasion.”
Wyre Forest District Council has two Armed Forces Champions, Councillor Kevin Gale and Councillor Alan Sutton. Their aim is to help strengthen the relationship between the council and the armed forces community.
Wyre Forest District Council is one of hundreds of councils across the country taking part in a week of official celebrations in honour of the Armed Forces. The national centrepiece of the celebrations is on Saturday 24 June in Falmouth.
