New Chairman at Wyre Forest District Council

The new chairman of Wyre Forest District Council has been sworn in at annual council.

Councillor Peter Dyke was made chairman at the meeting on Wednesday 11 May. He has been a councillor for 24 years and currently represents Aggborough and Spennells. He takes over from outgoing chairman Councillor John Aston.

As the Chairman, Councillor Dyke will represent the district at a wide range of functions across the district, including community and charity events and formal openings. He will also chair council meetings and work throughout the year to raise money for charity.

The Chairman said: “I am honoured to be taking up the role of chairman and representing the district council at events and functions. I am also looking forward to raising money for my chosen charities. I will be fundraising for Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper and Kidderminster and District Youth Trust.”

Organisations that would like advice on inviting the Chairman to attend an event should contact The council's Executive Support Officers by email. 

Councillor Calne Edginton-White, who represents Bewdley and Rock, will be Vice Chairman for the municipal year. 

There have also been changes to the chairs of some of the committees. The Audit Committee will be chaired by Councillor Roger Coleman and the Vice-Chairman is Councillor Peter Young. The Overview and Scrutiny Committee will by Chaired by Councillor Marcus Hart and the Vice-Chairman is Councillor Sarah Rook. The Licensing and Environmental Committee will be chaired by Councillor Leigh Whitehouse and the Vice-Chairman is Councillor Anna Coleman. Councillor Anna Coleman will also chair the Planning Committee with Councillor Claire Barnett as Vice-Chairman. The Ethics and Standards Committee will be chaired by Councillor Calne Edginton-White and Vice-Chairman will be Councillor Berenice Dawes. Councillor Paul Harrison will be Chairman of the Local Plans Review Panel with Council Dixon Sheppard as Vice-Chairman. The Appointments and Appeals Committee and the Strategic Review Committee will both be chaired by the Leader of the Council with the Deputy Leader as Vice-Chairman.
