By-election date and polling stations confirmed

A by-election is being held on Thursday 16 June in Franche and Habberley North ward of Wyre Forest District Council. This is to fill the vacancy made by the recent resignation of Councillor Anna L’Huillier.

Poll cards will be sent to everyone registered to vote in the Franche and Habberley North ward. The polling stations being used are Kidderminster Baptist Church on Franche Road (entrance in Marlpool Place), Franche Community Church in Chestnut Grove and St Barnabas Community Hall on Wolverley Road. Electors are asked to check their poll cards for details of their polling station. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Anyone who isn’t already registered to vote has until midnight on Friday 27 May to apply. The easiest way to do this is on the website www.gov.uk/registertovote. National insurance number and date of birth are required.

Anyone who is registered to vote in the ward can request a postal vote. Completed applications must be received no later than 5pm on Monday, 30 May. Applications require a signature and date of birth for security purposes. Anyone already registered as a postal voter for district council elections does not need to reapply for this election.

The candidates for the seat will be announced by 4pm on Thursday 19 May. The statement of persons nominated will be able to be viewed at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/electioninformation

The count will take place after polling stations close on Thursday 16 June.
