Council Tax Reduction Scheme

If you are struggling to make payments on your Council Tax because you are on a low income you may be entitled to some help towards your bill via the Council Tax Reduction Scheme; this has replaced Council Tax Benefit. The Council Tax Reduction Scheme looks at the income and savings of people in the property. The Council Tax Reduction Scheme is worked out differently for working age and pension aged claimants.

Working age claimants

If you are of working age and in receipt of benefits or on a low income (employed or self-employed) you may be entitled to some help towards your Council Tax.

Pensionable age claimants

If you are of pensionable age and in receipt of pension credit or on a low income you may be entitled to help via the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
