Brinton Park prepares for official opening as final barriers come down
News release issued:
The final barriers are being removed at Brinton Park as preparations continue for the official opening of the park's restored pavilion, café and heritage features.
For a while, visitors have watched the ornamental pool, bridge and surrounding landscape take shape behind temporary fencing. Now those final sections are being removed, opening up some of the project's last areas and allowing people to experience the park as a whole once again.
Residents and visitors are invited to join the celebrations on Saturday 31 October, when Brinton Park officially enters its next chapter.
The event will feature live music from 12 noon, refreshments and ice creams from Little Al's Kitchen in the new pavilion café, and a photographic exhibition showcasing how the park has evolved since first opening. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 1pm.
The exhibition will offer visitors the chance to explore Brinton Park's rich history and learn more about the people, places and features that have shaped one of Kidderminster's best-loved parks over the years.
The £2.9 million restoration project has reinstated the ornamental pool and bridge, restored historic features and pathways, improved habitats for wildlife, enhanced accessibility and created a new pavilion community building and café. The project has also supported volunteering, learning and heritage activities designed to help more people connect with the park and its history.
The restoration has been made possible through a partnership between Wyre Forest District Council, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The National Lottery Community Fund, McPhillips Wellington Limited and Be Bold Media.
As Brinton Park prepares to welcome visitors for its official opening, residents are invited to come along, explore the improvements and celebrate the future of The People's Park.
