Chairman raises nearly £3,000 for local advice charity

Almost £3,000 has been raised for a local advice charity thanks to the fundraising efforts of Wyre Forest District Council Chairman, Councillor Paul Harrison, during his year in office.

Chairman of the council handing over a cheque for funds raised to the Wyre Forest CAB CEOA total of £2,932 was raised for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest through a series of fundraising events organised by the 2025-26 Chairman. An afternoon tea, a musical evening, a quiz night and charity dinner all helped raise funds. The events brought together councillors, residents, community groups and local supporters to back the organisation.

Citizens Advice Wyre Forest is an independent local charity and part of the national Citizens Advice network, providing free, confidential and impartial advice to anyone who needs it.

Councillor Harrison said:

“It has been a real honour to serve as Chairman of the Council over the past year and to support such an important local charity. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who attended events, donated or helped in any way. The generosity shown by our community has been fantastic, and I’m proud that, together, we’ve been able to raise nearly £3,000 for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest.”

The money will support Citizens Advice Wyre Forest’s work helping local people with issues such as debt, housing, benefits and employment.

Paul Hodgson, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest said:

“We’re extremely grateful to Councillor Harrison and everyone who supported his fundraising throughout the year. This generous total will make a real difference and help us continue supporting local people when they need us most.”

Councillor George Connolly is Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council for 2026-2027. He will be raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
