Applications open for Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board in Kidderminster

News release issued:

Applications are now open for six people to join the Neighbourhood Board for the Pride in Place programme in Kidderminster.

Pride in Place is a Government-funded programme that will invest nearly £20 million over the next 10 years into the communities of Birchen Coppice, the Rifle Range, Silverwoods and parts of Foley Park.

A Neighbourhood Board is being set up to help decide how this funding is used, playing an important role in shaping decisions so that they reflect the priorities of local residents.

To make sure local people have a strong voice, six of the 11 Board positions are reserved for people who live or work in the programme area. The Board will be led by independent Chair, Richard Collie, with other Board members including the local Member of Parliament, a ward councillor, and representatives from Wyre Forest District Council.

This role would suit someone who understands and cares about the area, believes in its potential, and wants to help improve local lives.

Board members will be expected to attend meetings, prepare for discussions, and take part in community engagement activities where needed. The role will usually require a commitment of at least two days per month, although more time may be needed at the beginning of the project.

You don’t need previous board experience, but you should be passionate, committed and willing to contribute. This is an unpaid, voluntary role.

Richard Collie, Chair of the Neighbourhood Board, said:

“This is a real opportunity for local people to shape decisions that will affect their community for years to come. We’re looking for people who are strongly connected to Birchen Coppice, Rifle Range, Silverwoods and Foley Park, and who are committed to making these areas even better places to live.”

Councillor Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said:

“It’s essential that Board members can work effectively with others and truly represent their area. They should be strong listeners, able to build relationships, and bring together a wide range of voices from across the community to help shape a shared vision for the future.”

If you think that this role might be for you, please submit a letter outlining your motivation for applying for the role (maximum two sides of A4) along with your CV (maximum two sides of A4) outlining your experience and skills relevant to the role. Please explain in your motivation letter how you are connected to Birchen Coppice (e.g. live or work in the area) and how your experience, skills and attributes would contribute to the Board.

Please send your Motivation Letter and CV by 31 May 2026 via email to prideinplace@wyreforestdc.gov.uk
