Appeal for information after Talbot Park play area vandalised
News release issued:
Recent vandalism at the play area in Talbot Park, Kidderminster, has been condemned after damage was found at the newly opened green space.
Wyre Forest District Council says it is disappointed to see the damage at this new public facility, which was created for local families, children and visitors to enjoy. The vandalism takes away from a space that was designed to benefit the whole community.
Clean-ups and repairs like this come at a cost to local taxpayers. They also take valuable time and resources away from other planned improvements across the district.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Community Safety, said:
“It’s deeply frustrating to see the play area damaged like this. Since opening, Talbot Park has been a real success, with residents, visitors and even local fitness groups making great use of the space. While we know some people were worried this could happen, we can’t hold back from investing in and improving public spaces because of the risk of damage. Talbot Park was created for everyone to enjoy, and this behaviour is unfair on those who use it responsibly. I urge anyone with information about those responsible to come forward and report it.”
The incident has been reported to West Mercia Police. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact the police or report it to Wyre Forest District Council.
