Chairman to raise flag for Commonwealth Day 2026

A special flag flying event to honour this year’s Commonwealth Day is taking place at Wyre Forest District Council’s headquarters on Monday 9 March.

Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony, taking place outside Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster. The ceremony will start with a formal welcome from Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, Councillor Paul Harrison, at 10.30am. Refreshments will be available after the event in Wyre Forest House reception.

This year’s Commonwealth Day theme is ‘Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth’. It reflects the Secretary-General’s focus on creating fair and meaningful opportunities for people across the Commonwealth.

Chairman of the Council, Councillor Paul Harrison said,

“Commonwealth Day is a moment for us to pause and reflect on the values we share with millions of people across the Commonwealth. Raising the flag together is a simple but powerful act that celebrates our unity and the opportunities we can create when we work together. I warmly encourage residents to join us for the ceremony as we mark this important day.”
