Kidderminster resident appointed to lead £20 million Pride in Place programme
News release issued:
A Kidderminster resident of nearly 40 years has been appointed as Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.
Following a thorough recruitment process, Richard Collie will lead the delivery of almost £20 million of Government investment into the Birchen Coppice Middle Super Output Area (MSOA). This area also includes Rifle Range, Silverwoods and parts of Foley Park.
Throughout his career, Richard delivered large-scale change for major organisations across the industrial, commercial and financial sectors. Since retiring, he has been an active member of the local community - currently serving as Chair of Governors at Foley Park Primary Academy and Chair of Wyre Forest Swimming Club.
Richard Collie said:
"I am proud to have been appointed as Chair. This funding has the potential to create meaningful and lasting impact, and I am fully committed to ensuring it delivers a legacy we can all be proud of. I look forward to working closely with residents, community partners and local representatives to make sure we get the best value out of this investment for our communities."
Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, said:
"This programme requires great leadership, and Richard has the qualities and experience that will be of real benefit - most importantly to the local residents. I look forward to working alongside him."
Mark Garnier OBE, Member of Parliament for Wyre Forest, said:
"As a local resident, Richard knows this area well, and brings with him a wealth of business and financial project management experience. These attributes and his ability to bring people together will be vital to the success of the programme”.
The next steps for the programme include forming the Neighbourhood Board. To make sure local voices are clearly heard, this will include six Board seats allocated to people who live or work within the programme area. A recruitment process will be published shortly.
