Council confirms new EV Charging supplier

News release issued:

A new supplier to install public off-street electric vehicle (EV) charging points has been confirmed by Wyre Forest District Council. The authority has appointed Otaski as its chosen contractor.

62 EV chargers (providing 124 sockets) will be installed across 17 council-owned car parks in Kidderminster, Bewdley, and Stourport-on-Severn. The rollout is expected to begin in the summer, starting in Kidderminster to avoid peak visitor season in the other towns.

The installation will come at no cost to the Council and will also generate a new income stream through revenue sharing from the charging infrastructure.

This announcement follows the Council’s reaffirmed commitment to EV infrastructure earlier this year, after a previous contractor withdrew from the project.

Councillor Dan Morehead, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said:

“We’re delighted to be moving forward with Otaski to deliver this vital infrastructure. This project supports our climate goals, provides a valuable service to residents and visitors, and does so at no cost to the taxpayer. We will of course be ensuring that we get the infrastructure right for both today’s and future needs.”

Stephen Lawrence, Head of Business Development at Otaski added:

“We’re proud to partner with Wyre Forest District Council on this ambitious rollout. Our goal is to make EV charging accessible, reliable, and future-ready for communities across the UK.”
