Popular Volunteer Fair returns to Kidderminster

News release issued:

More than 18 local organisations that are looking for volunteers are taking part in a Volunteer Fair at Kidderminster College on Thursday 30 January.

Following the success of last year’s event, the fair will run from 11am – 1pm, and is free to attend. It has been organised by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with UNITY (the employment services team at Community Housing), Wyre Forest Citizen Advice Bureau and Kidderminster College.

Local charities, groups and other organisations who rely on the goodwill of volunteers will be promoting a number of exciting roles they have available. Stand holders include Wheely Different, Mentor Link, Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and more. Wyre Forest District Council will also be attending to promote volunteering opportunities with the rangers, Bewdley Museum, and the Adopt a Street scheme.

Patients registered with some Wyre Forest GP Practices may have received a text message advising them of the event. Primary care leaders are keen to champion initiatives that reduce loneliness and isolation, positively impacting patients’ health and wellbeing.

Being a volunteer can be a great opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people and can help people into employment.

Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Community Safety said,

“Volunteering is an excellent way to connect with others while making a positive impact in the local community. Whether volunteers dedicate a few hours each week or just once a month, we appreciate the time and effort they give.

We hope the Volunteer Fair continues to provide valuable insights and inspiration this year. There will be lots of opportunities available for people from all walks of life to get involved with.”
