Housing need

Under the National Planning Policy Framework Local Planning Authorities are required to prepare an Objective Assessment of Housing Need. The latest Housing Need Study for Wyre Forest District has used the Government’s Standardised Methodology for calculating housing need.

Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA)

Under the National Planning Policy Framework, Local Planning Authorities are required to prepare a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment. This identifies the future land supply which could help to deliver the objectively assessed needs identified for housing and economic development in Wyre Forest District across the plan period (2016-36). It helps us understand the level of growth we can plan for and where that growth could potentially go. Please note that any references to Health and Safety Executive Exclusion Zones are now obsolete.

Call for sites - what happens next?

The Call for Sites has closed. At this stage of plan making the Council will not be accepting any further potential sites for the Local Plan Review.

The latest call for sites was undertaken as part of the Local Plan Review Preferred Options which ran from 15 June 2017 to 14 August 2017. An Issues and Options consultation was also undertaken from 1 September 2015 until 16 October 2015, and a call for sites was undertaken during Autumn 2014.

As part of the evidence base for the Local Plan Review, a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA) was prepared in 2016. The sites in this HELAA report were assessed by an independent panel. The HELAA has now been updated to include additional sites submitted as part of the call for sites during the Preferred Options consultation. This technical evidence base has helped to inform the allocation of sites which are identified at the Pre-Submission stage of the Local Plan process.

Please note that the submission of a call for site does not mean that the site will be allocated for development in the Local Plan. A call for sites is simply a means to establish which sites could potentially come forward for future development for us to consider as part of the Local Plan process.
