Park for free after 3 this Christmas!

News release issued:

Parking in Wyre Forest District Council car parks will be free after 3pm during the festive period.

Residents should only make essential journeys due to the new national restrictions being introduced from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December.

Non-essential shops will be closed with food shops, supermarkets, garden centres and certain other retailers providing essential goods and services remaining open.

The Christmas parking offer is running from Friday 20 November to Sunday 3 January 2021.

There will be no Christmas light switch-on ceremonies in Kidderminster, Stourport or Bewdley this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Councillor John Thomas said: “We normally charge until 9pm in our car parks, this offer means motorists can park in any of our car parks for free from 3pm. During the new national restrictions all non-essential shops will be closed so please only travel for essential journeys.

“We are reminding everyone, who needs to visit essential shops in the district, to keep protecting each other by regularly washing their hands, wearing a face mask and social distancing.”

The offer applies only to car parks owned by Wyre Forest District Council. The offer is not available at Weaver’s Wharf car park in Kidderminster, which is privately owned.

Signs will be put up at the entrances to all council car parks and information will also be displayed at all ticket machines. Motorists – including those using the Just Park app - will not need to pay for parking beyond 3pm during the period. There is no need to display a ticket.
