Free showcases of services for older people this autumn
News release issued:
A series of showcases highlighting services, groups and activities for the older generation of the Wyre Forest community are taking place throughout October. The events have been organised by Wyre Forest District Council, in partnership with Age UK Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest and Simply Limitless.
The showcases are a great way to find out more about healthy living, finances, benefits, and local services, all for free. There will be three events this autumn across the district, all taking place between 10am – 12pm. The first will take place on Thursday 10 October at St Anne’s Church, Bewdley, DY12 2AP. The second event will be on Thursday 17 October at The Civic, Stourport, DY13 8UJ. The final showcase will take place on Tuesday 22 October at the KDYT Hall, Kidderminster, DY10 1PF.
There will be a range of organisations attending the events, including Citizen’s Advice, Act on Energy, Millbrook Healthcare, West Mercia Police and more. The Council’s Financial Inclusion and Disabled Facilities Grants Officers will also be on hand to talk to residents about the options and services available to them.
Councillor Chris Rogers, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing said,
“We are pleased to be bringing our showcases back to the district this autumn. They are a great opportunity for residents over 50 and those who have retired to find out what services are available to them. Whether you want to become a volunteer with a local organisation, or join a group activity, the showcase is a fantastic way to get involved with something meaningful and make new connections.”
More information about local groups and activities for people over 50 can be found on the Council’s over 50s webpage.
