Your views on Gilgal Conservation Area Character Appraisal

News release issued:

A key document which offers guidance on the unique character and historic interest for an area of Stourport has been updated.

Wyre Forest District Council officers have reviewed the Conservation Area Character Appraisal for the Gilgal area of Stourport. The document looks at the history of the area and what makes it special. It makes suggestions for the future management of the conservation area. This includes how existing buildings should be preserved, how views should be protected and what enhancements could be made.

Residents and local businesses now have the chance to have their say on the updated appraisal and the management plan.

Councillor Dan Moorhead, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and Green Agenda said:

“The Gilgal Conservation Area encompasses the old settlement of Lower Mitton that predates the adjoining Georgian town of Stourport-on-Severn. The area was designated a Conservation Area back in 1991 and this latest review analyses the history, character and appearance of the area and looks at what makes it special. We would like anyone living, working or with an interest in the Gilgal area to get involved and give us their views on the Conservation Area Character Appraisal.”

The draft Gilgal Conservation Area and Character appraisal can be viewed on the council’s website. It can also be accessed on the public computers at the district’s libraries and the Council’s headquarters, Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster.

The consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 16th December.
