Your views on a Supplementary Planning Document for Health and Wellbeing

News release issued:

The health and wellbeing of communities is at the heart of a new Wyre Forest District Council planning document.

The supplementary planning document (SPD) aims to promote opportunities for healthier lifestyles and encourage healthier choices by addressing how development can promote health for all sections of our community.

The SPD considers how health can be affected by design, housing, employment, availability of healthy foods and the environment. It also sets out what developers must do as part of their development proposals to make sure there are no adverse health effects from their development proposals, which is assessed by them completing a health impact assessment template.

Now the council is asking for feedback on the Health and Wellbeing Supplementary Planning Document before finalising and adopting it.

Councillor Helen Dyke, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for planning said,

“What this document is aiming to do is to make sure developers have considered the impact their plans will have on the health and wellbeing of those people living in the area. We are asking residents, businesses and developers for their comments.”

Details and how to comment can be found on our consultations webpage

The consultation runs until 5pm on Monday 20 March 2023.
