Your views on planning scoping documents

News release issued:

Residents, businesses and local developers in the district are being asked to have their say on the topics proposed to be covered in two new supplementary planning documents.

Wyre Forest District Council has set out in the scoping documents what it intends to include in its new Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and Health SPD.  The aim of both documents is to provide further guidance to developers and the community about what planners will consider when receiving an application.

The Health SPD sets out what developers must do as part of their development proposals to make sure there are no adverse health effects. Some of the proposed topic areas include community health services and facilities, active travel and healthy foods.

The Housing SPD will aim to give developers clear guidance on what is expected to create sustainable communities in the district. Suggested housing topics include, density and mix, affordable  provision, rural housing, self and custom build development and accommodation for older people and others with support needs.

Councillor Helen Dyke, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for planning said:

“Supplementary planning documents or SPDs build upon and provide more detailed advice and guidance on policies when a local adopted plan is in place. This is the start of the process to produce SPDs in relation to housing and health. We have set out what topic areas we plan to include and would welcome feedback on this.”

Details and how to comment can be found on our Housing SPD scoping document page and our Health SPD scoping document page.

The consultation runs until Wednesday 26 October 2022.
