Platinum Jubilee round-up

News release issued:

We hope you had a lovely long Bank Holiday weekend celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.

It was great to see so many events taking place across the district. Our Jubilee Grant Fund supported 15 community groups.

At the Far Forest Society, our funding helped them put on a brilliant Jubilee afternoon lunch and tea party!

The event was an opportunity for more than 100 residents from Far Forest and Callow Hill to enjoy some face painting, dance to local entertainers and of course, meet Her Majesty the Queen.

In Broadwaters, the Friends of Broadwaters used the funding to provide free entertainment for a large and happy crowd as part of their ‘Party in the Park’. It also paid for 1,500 leaflets which were delivered around the local area by members of the group.

At St Peter’s Community Church in Kidderminster more than 125 people went along to an event full of fun activities.

From children’s games to an interactive drumming circle there was something for everyone. The Church also put on a huge spread.

Funding was given to Cally’s Gems. The group had a brilliant time as they got creative making royal crowns, decorating tables and the hall. Fun took place outside too with royal croquet, giant connect 4, giant jenga and more.

Our grant also funded celebrations organised by Churchill and Blakedown Historical Society, Bewdley Rowing Club and Stourport Forward.

Take a look at some snaps from each event below...
