By-election date and polling station confirmed

News release issued:

A by-election is being held on Thursday 14 July in the Central ward of Stourport Town Council. This is to fill the vacancy caused by the recent resignation of Councillor Gary Talbot.

Poll cards will be sent to everyone registered to vote in the Central ward. The polling station being used is Stourport Workmen`s Club, Lickhill Road, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, DY13 8SB. It will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Anyone who isn’t already registered to vote has until midnight on Tuesday 28 June to apply. The easiest way to do this is on the gov.uk website. National insurance number and date of birth are required.

Anyone who is registered to vote in the ward can request a postal vote. Completed applications must be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday 29 June. Applications require a signature and date of birth for security purposes. Anyone already registered as a postal voter for district council elections does not need to reapply for this election.

The candidates for the seat will be announced by 4pm on Monday 20 June. The statement of persons nominated will be able to be viewed on the council website.

The count will take place after polling stations close on Thursday 14 July.
