Council part of countywide pledge to support refugees

News release issued:

Wyre Forest District Council has confirmed that it is part of a countywide pledge to support Afghan refugees.

Worcestershire will be receiving families through the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme which is supporting the interpreters and other personnel that supported our military. The first arrivals in the county will be next month and they will be accommodated outside Wyre Forest district.

The scheme is being led by Worcestershire County Council with support from all district councils. The councils are also working on making a commitment in respect of the Afghan Citizens’ Resettlement Scheme.

Wyre Forest District Council is working to find suitable accommodation. At the moment none has been identified.

The council would like to hear from any landlords who have a property which is available. In particular, it is looking for homes which are suitable for family groups. Landlords can contact ReWyreLettings@wyreforestdc.gov.uk
