Deadline approaches for budget survey03 December 2020
There is just a week left for residents to have their say on Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet budget proposals.
So far almost 800 people have taken part in the online survey.
The Cabinet’s proposals seek to transform the council into a smaller organisation, while protecting essential front-line services. They are aiming to close an estimated funding gap of £2.7 million by 2022-23. This has been made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The proposals include commissioning a business case to dispose of all or part of Wyre Forest House and moving local assets and services to town councils. They also include ending the Community Leadership Fund, which gives councillors an allowance to support local good causes, and increasing the district council's part of the council tax bill by the maximum amount without triggering a referendum, as well as asking the Boundary Commission to review the number of councillors with a view to reducing the amount from 2027.
The survey is available until midday on Thursday 10 December at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/Budget2021.
Councillor Graham Ballinger, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said: “Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to fill in the online survey. It’s great so many residents have already completed it but we would like more responses.
“This is an important time for the council as we are looking to make changes that transform how the authority functions in the future.”
Feedback from the survey will feed into a report on the Medium Term Financial Strategy at the Cabinet’s meeting in December.
