Your say on polling stations27 September 2019
A review of polling districts and places is being carried out by Wyre Forest District Council.
The review, which is required by law to take place every five years, is to make sure that the authority is providing reasonable facilities for voting and that polling stations are accessible to all electors. It will also look at the polling districts they serve. The council would like to hear from residents about any changes they would like to see.
Residents can submit their comments via an online questionnaire.
The council would particularly like to hear from any person or group with experience or expertise on access for people with a disability.
Ian Miller, Electoral Registration Officer for Wyre Forest said:
“Many of our polling stations are at long-established locations and most local residents people will be familiar with them if they vote in person. When deciding which buildings to use as polling places, we try to make sure that they are located as conveniently as possible for the majority of electors and that they are accessible to everyone, particularly anyone with a disability.
We want to hear if anyone has concerns or issues with the current venues, based on their experience of the local and European Parliamentary elections in May, and any suggestions that they may have for alternative, more convenient or more accessible locations for future elections.“
Paper versions of the questionnaire are available from the Hub in Green Street, Kidderminster and at Wyre Forest House.
The deadline to replying to the survey is 5pm on Monday 28 October 2019. When the consultation closes, all responses will be assessed and recommendations discussed at full Council in December 2019. Any changes would then be incorporated into the electoral register in January 2020 and would take effect at any election held after that date.
