A-Z of Services

Arrangements for bin collections over the festive period have been announced today.

Householders who have Tuesday and Wednesday collections should look out for special labels that will be attached to their bins over the next couple of weeks, advising them of alternative arrangements.

The changes affect only residents who usually have Tuesday and Wednesday collections.

People whose recycling collection would have fallen on Christmas Day (Tuesday 25 December ) will be asked to put their green bins out on the previous Saturday (22 December). This includes homes in Spennells, Offmore/Comberton, Greenhill, Stone/Shenstone, Chaddesley Corbett, Drayton/Broome and Rushock.

Residents who would ordinarily have their recycling collected on Wednesday 26 December are asked to put out their bins on Saturday 29 December. These include homes in Upper Arley, Shatterford, Trimpley, Wolverley/Cookley, Broadwaters, Marpool, Horsefair and Franche.

There will be no bin collections on New Year’s Day (Tuesday 1 January). Instead black bins in the following areas will be collected on Saturday 5 January.  This applies to homes in Spennells, Offmore/Comberton, Greenhill, Stone/Shenstone, Blakedown, Chaddesley Corbett, Drayton/Broome and Rushock.

There will be no changes for residents who have Thursday and Friday collections.

Cabinet Member for Operational Services Councillor Rebecca Vale said: “We always try to keep any changes to a minimum to save disruption to our residents. This year it is people with Tuesday and Wednesday collections who will be affected.

“We will be promoting the new arrangements by attaching special labels to all bins in those areas and would ask residents to look out for them over the next couple of weeks. We will also be promoting via our website, the local press and social media.

“If you have friends and relatives in these areas I would ask you to help us spread the word too. If you have Thursday and Friday collections normally, there will be no changes over the festive period.”
