Organ Donation Week

Wednesday 2 until Tuesday 8 September 2020

Find out more information about organ donation week

What they say...

Did you know?

3 people die every day due to a shortage of donated organs.

Around 6,500 people in the UK are waiting for a transplant and every day around three people who could have benefited from a transplant die because there aren’t enough organ donors. While the majority of people support organ donation, only a third of the population have joined the NHS Organ Donor Register.

We need more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register now at www.organdonation.nhs.uk. It only takes a few minutes to register and please remember to tell your family that you want them to support your decision to donate and save lives. Ask them whether they want to be donors too. #YesIDonate

Or have you thought about giving blood?

For more information and to find your nearest centre to donate blood, please visit https://www.blood.co.uk/

What they say...

We need to make sure that we have enough supplies of all blood groups and blood types to treat all types of conditions.

By giving blood, every donor helps us meet the challenge of providing life-saving products whenever and wherever they are needed.

Maintaining the blood supply

We need to maintain a regular supply of all blood groups and types so we can provide it to the hospitals and patients who need it.

Some rare sub-types are more common in specific communities, which is why we particularly need more black donors and are always looking for more blood donors from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities

At the moment, O negative blood stocks are low. We need you.
