The Armed Forces Flag Flying Ceremony is an annual opportunity for everyone to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces’ community, from currently serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets. We urge Wyre Forest residents to come to the Flag Flying Ceremony and, if appropriate, to wear their full military regalia, berets, blazers or uniform to mark the occasion, so please spread the word.
Standard bearers, veterans and serving personnel assembled on the car park at the front of the Royal British Legion. The Chairman of Wyre forest District Council opened the ceremony and prayers were read followed by the Raising of the Flag at 10.30am.
The flag is raised simultaneously across the country to honour our British Armed Forces.
Following the raising of the flag, children from a local school sang a couple of songs.
We are one of hundreds of councils across the country that take part in these events. All local authorities are invited by the Ministry of Defence to take part in a national 'Fly a Flag' campaign. More information can be found here.
