The Wyre Forest Dance Festival is now run by an independent committee and not Wyre Forest District Council. The District Council after 32 years of running the festival has handed over the management of this to the Dance Festival committee. Over the last 2 years they have been working with the Council to assist with the delivery of the event. The Council has given the committee a Localism fund grant of £2,000 to enable the ongoing organisation of this event. The Festival will still be held at Stourport Civic Hall during February half term.

More than 1,200 dancers took part in Wyre Forest Dance Festival during February half term 2016 (13 – 20 February).
The festival was organised by The Dance Festival Committee with the help of Wyre Forest District Council. It was held at Stourport Civic Theatre Hall and attracted a wealth of talent from across the county.
Over the week more than 2,000 spectators were entertained by dances of many different disciplines including ballet, modern and lyrical.
Each competitor was judged by the adjudicator, Daniel Donaldson–Todd from Hartlepool who ranked each section and gave valuable, constructive feedback.
This year’s winners showed remarkable talent with Freya Melling from Academy Theatre Arts, Worcester winning the senior award and Keely-Taylor-Hall also from Academy Theatre Arts awarded runner up.
The Intermediate winner was awarded to Daniel Richards from Splinters in Kidderminster. Hatti White also from Splinters in Kidderminster came in close second.
Amelia White from Step by Step in Stourport won the junior award with Bethany McWattgreen from Academy Theatre Arts in Worcester in second place.
Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing said:
“The dance festival is always a quality competition which displays real talent. Once again the dancers did not disappoint and the standard was very high. I would like to congratulate all of the dancers who took part and wish them luck for future.”
