Personal Search Appointments (Land Charges)

Anyone can make a request to carry out a Personal Search. However, they should be competent and prepared to carry out a search and inspection of local authority records without assistance from local authority staff. We offer no compensation for Personal Searches.

Both the Land Charges Register and Planning Registers are made available for inspection, free of charge, at our offices in Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster, DY11 7WF.

We operate an appointment system and requests for an appointment for both Land Charges and Planning should be emailed to personal.searches@wyreforestdc.gov.uk. We do not accept appointment requests by telephone. You must include with your email a plan outlining the area in red to be searched and note the address of the property on the plan. Requests will be returned if incorrect or incomplete information is provided.

We offer two, 1 hour appointment slots per day, 11am and 2pm and you can request up to four addresses per slot. If you are unable to complete the searches in the allocated time you will need to book another appointment. It would be helpful if you would state your preferred appointment days/times when emailing.

We aim to respond and confirm your appointment by email within 12 working days. Please do not assume that you have booked the appointment until you receive a confirmation email from us. Once the appointment has been confirmed, we are unable to add further addresses as you will be jumping the queue. All requests are dealt with in strict date order.

We provide the following information for inspection only;

  • An extract of the Local Land Charges Register
    (please note we do not reveal planning approvals prior to 1974).
  • Maps relevant to the area you have requested, plotting all planning applications from 1974 until 2012.  The planning references up to the year 2005 are in the format ie. 942/05 the last two digits indicating the year of the application.  You will be given access to “Document Viewer” at your appointment to view these planning decisions. Midway through 2005 the format changed to ie. 05/0943 the first two digits indicating the year of the application. Please note that from 2006 all planning applications and decisions can be viewed on the Council's website
  • If applicable a list of Building Regulation Decisions and Completion Certificates from 1 April 2002 onwards. Please note we do not reveal replies to Con 29 2016 1.1(l) in respect of work carried out under a competent person self-certification scheme.  These enquiries should be referred to the owner/occupier.
  • Worcestershire County Council Street Lists providing the status of roadways.  All other Highway enquiries ie. extents, road and traffic schemes together with footpath enquiries should be referred direct to Worcestershire County Council.  Please refer to their website www.worcestershire.gov.uk
  • Details of how to obtain the information required for the Con29 Part I & II Version 2016 are available via this link.

The paperwork is made available for inspection only and should not be taken away from the office.
Copies via camera/mobile phone are not permitted.
