Wyre Forest District Council is asking residents and other interested groups to comment on a review of polling districts and polling places.

The consultation is about specific polling districts in Offmore & Comberton and the polling places at Offmore Community Centre and Stourport High School Sixth Form Centre.

The Council is suggesting slightly adjusting the polling district boundary in the Offmore & Comberton ward.  This would affect 14 properties and would mean residents there would be able to vote in the polling place closest to their home.

The Council is also suggesting using Offmore Evangelical Church in Gray Close, Kidderminster as a polling station instead of Offmore Community Centre, which is due to be redeveloped.  In Stourport, one of the current designated polling places for people in the Mitton Ward is Stourport High School Sixth Form Centre.  This site is being re-developed too and the Council is looking to designate the whole school complex rather than a specific building to make sure appropriate facilities are available.

The changes would be for all future elections. This review is being undertaken under section 18C(5) of the Representation of People Act 1983 which allows the Council to carry out at any time a review of a particular polling place or polling district.

Ian Miller, Electoral Registration Officer said:

“The Council is carrying out this review following feedback from the May elections and also to take account of changes which we know will be taking place in the future.  The aim of these proposals is to try find the best locations for Polling Places and to make it as convenient as possible for electors”

Paper copies are also available at  Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster,  Worcestershire Hub, Kidderminster Town Hall, Vicar Street, Kidderminster and   Stourport Library, Civic Centre, New Street, Stourport on Severn.
