The number of people on the newly published Register of Electors in Wyre Forest has increased by more than 2,000.

A total of 78,464 electors are listed which represents an increase of 2,263 (2.8%) since the Register was compiled in December 2015

In July, Wyre Forest District Council posted forms to register to vote to all residential letterboxes in the district.  In the following months the authority also sent out reminder letters and canvassers called at homes where a form had not been returned to the Council.  Messages reminding people to register to vote were also posted on social media.

Electoral Registration Officer, Ian Miller, said:

“We are pleased to see that more people have registered to vote. While the Register of Electors has now been published we are still encouraging people to make sure they are registered for future elections.  There will be Worcestershire County Council elections next May.  It is now really easy to register because it can be done online.”

Any person living in Wyre Forest who is aged 18 or has moved into the area and is not currently included in the published Register of Electors can register by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .  They can also call 01562 732733 or visit the Hub at Kidderminster Town Hall.

The full Register of Electors is available to view at libraries in Bewdley and Stourport-on-Severn and at the Worcestershire Hub at Kidderminster Town Hall.
