Wyre Forest District Council is asking residents and other interested groups to comment on a proposal to change polling districts and polling places in the parish of Kidderminster Foreign only.

The proposal is that a polling district should be created for the part of Kidderminster Foreign which lies along Northwood Lane, Bewdley and that electors from that area should vote at the Parish Rooms, Wribbenhall. If agreed, the changes would take effect for elections in May 2016 onwards. There would be no impact on electors in the rest of Kidderminster Foreign, including Trimpley and Low Habberley, who would continue to vote at the Village Hall in Shatterford.

Views are invited from residents as well as local community groups and anyone having particular expertise in access to premises or facilities for people with different forms of disability. Local political parties and Councillors will also be consulted.

Ian Miller, Electoral Registration Officer said:

“Following the elections in May 2015 comments were received from the public and elected members on some of the changes to the pattern of polling places and polling districts following the decisions on the last review in December 2014.

These comments were considered by Full Council on 29 July 2015 when it was agreed to carry out a polling places and polling districts review for the parish of Kidderminster Foreign only. This was due to the current arrangements having a specific impact on voters living at the far end of Northwood Lane, Bewdley as there is no short direct road route for them to reach the current polling place at Shatterford. This impact wasn’t identified or raised during last year’s review.

It is therefore important that local people use this opportunity to have their say on the proposals in this review and influence the final decisions that will be taken by the Council in December.”

Details of the proposals can be found here or by visiting Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, DY11 7WF, Worcestershire Hub Kidderminster Town Hall, Vicar Street, Kidderminster DY10 1DB, or Bewdley Library Load Street, Bewdley DY12 2EQ.
