If your community group would benefit from a funding boost, there is still time to apply for Wyre Forest District Council’s Community Leadership Fund.
Over 60 locally based community groups and organisations have benefitted from the scheme last year which has been running for over 8 years.
It is delivered by the 33 District Councillors who each have a budget of £1000 to donate to local causes.
More than half of the funding went to local community organisations and other projects ranging from young peoples activities, healthy living for older people and uniformed groups. The Citizen’s Advice bureau received the largest donation last year.
Councillor Sally Chambers, Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing said:
“This fund has helped hundreds of organisations over the years, ranging from charities, individuals in need and community projects. Groups have used the funds to buy bulbs and plants to brighten up local communal areas, or paid for coach trips and visits for older people and children who may not normally get the opportunity.
“Projects or activities that improve the quality of life for residents or enhance the local environment will usually be supported. I’d encourage any organisation or project to take a look at the Council’s website to find out more.”
