Wyre Forest District Council’s exciting programme of summer events has arrived.

A variety of activities will be available to children and young residents in the Wyre Forest area during the school summer holidays.

Activities include sport courses, rangers and explorer activities, family events, craft workshops and more.

The Explorer Club will be returning for the more avid adventurers aged 12-15 years old.  They can learn survival skills or go on a sand dune adventure.

There are events for the whole family including Music in the Valley taking place in August.

The sport courses on offer include cycling, netball and tennis.  Expert coaches will be putting the youngsters through their paces.

Creative craft workshops are also being held at Bewdley Museum.  Children can make all sorts of things including clay creations, creepy crawly sculptures and personalised t-shirts.

The Council’s popular Play Day event returns on Wednesday 5 August and will be held at its traditional venue of Lickhill Memorial Park in Stourport-on-Severn.

There will be a huge range of free activities including a special appearance by KAZZUM Theatre, who will bring their interactive show Nana’s Jumble, arts and crafts activities and sport taster sessions including Harriers Football. There is also a fair with swing boats and donkey rides, face-painting, a climbing wall. Entry is free but there is a small charge for some activities.

The Play Here sessions led by our energetic and active team of Play Activity Leaders are free of charge.  They are between 10.00am and 12.30pm weekdays at different play areas across the district.

Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing said:

“These activities are a brilliant opportunity for youngsters in the district to have a fun packed summer holiday.  There is so much on offer and the scheme allows children to develop and discover new interests whilst having fun. Parents can leave their children in the knowledge they are being looked after in a safe environment.”

The Summer Programme is available now in all major public buildings. It is also available online.  Booking online is easy, simply visit or contact 01562 732984 between 9am – 12pm.
